You must cleanse your face twice a day, exfoliate twice a week and deep cleanse your skin twice a month — anyone who takes skincare seriously knows this quite well. But to obtain the best results, how you apply these products makes all the difference. Now, there are generally three application techniques that most people use to apply skincare products — press, pat and rub. But, do you know exactly which product to pat, rub and dry? Nope? Well, you're in luck because we're about to tell just how you should be applying your skincare products the right way to gain maximum benefits.
01Cleanser
Rubbing your face with foam for 10 seconds and splashing water will never give you the skin of your dreams. In order to thoroughly cleanse your face, ensure that you first start by wetting your face. Then, take a pea sized amount of cleanser and gently massage your face for 30-60 seconds in circular motions using your fingertips. Rinse off with lukewarm water.
02Exfoliator
Using a face scrub can be quite tricky, if you are too gentle the dead skin won't come off, if you are too harsh you might end up damaging your protective barrier. The trick is to use the same method as the cleanser, but massage your face in smaller circles focusing on areas like nose and cheek. Be extra gentle on the apples of the cheeks.
03Toner
Often skipped by most women thinking it's an unnecessary step, toners not only help tighten the pores but also balance the skin's pH levels. Spritz or pour the toner on a cotton pad and gently glide it across the face, start from the centre of the face and move outwards.
04Serum
That smooth, watery product that instantly absorbs into the skin and does wonders for your face should be applied with care. Unlike the first few products in your skincare routine, never massage a serum into the skin. Instead, pat it on using your fingertips and then smooth it out. Since it is packed with potent active ingredients, let your skin absorb it on its own.
05Eye cream
Your eye area is very delicate; therefore, you need to be extra careful of how you apply your eye cream. Using only the tips of two fingers, pat the cream under the brows and underneath your eyes, gently dabbing your eyelids.
