I've had a 'love-hate' relationship with my hair for years. My hair is thick, frizzy and wavy in texture. Given that it's very moody, I'd either be in love with all that body or be completely annoyed by my unruly tresses on any given day. But over the last one year, it became almost all 'hate'. I noticed my scalp turned excessively dry (something I never faced before), making me prone to hair fall as well. I dismissed it at first assuming it was the change in weather, but it only got worse. Now I'm well aware that losing 100 to 150 strands of hair per day is normal, but my hair fall was much, much worse. Washing my hair meant a big bunch of hair in the drain and almost always a pillow covered in strands by the morning. I tried the good ol' champi, some homemade hair masks and even a supplement before realising this was serious. Thankfully, about the time I was starting to fret, my bestie who has a penchant for trying all things Ayurvedic recommended I try an Ayurvedic hair oil. I wasn't sure it would work, but what the heck... I decided to give the Indulekha Bringha Hair Oil a go. I've been using it for the last month and here's what it's done for my hair. Let me first tell you about the product. After reading up a little, I figured that theIndulekha Bringha Hair Oilis an Ayurvedic medicated hair loss treatment that claims to reduce hair fall and help you grow new hair. It is prepared by soaking potent herbs in virgin coconut oil and letting it mature under sunlight for a week. This preparation technique makes this oil a strong concoction used to arrest hair fall in just three to four weeks. One of the powerful ingredients that go into making this oil is Bringharaj. Known to be an effective hair loss treatment, Bringharaj prevents hair loss and promotes new hair growth. The preparation also contains Svetakutaja, which helps prevent scalp disease. Amla, curry leaves, neem, aloe vera and brahmi are also added to the oil; all of which are known for making hair stronger and healthier naturally. I had never really heard about it before my bestie mentioned it, but turns out it's available online and in offline stores too. Now, I've never really loved the idea of oiling my hair because who has time for that, right? And to do it for four months straight (as recommended by the brand) seemed a little much. But a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Thankfully, the bottle of oil comes with a selfie comb that is to be used to apply the oil to the scalp. So you don't need to use your fingers to vigorously rub the oil in the hard to reach areas... phew! Just section your hair and squeeze as you comb! I did this religiously thrice a week about two hours before washing my hair for the last month. (You can leave the oil in your hair overnight but I prefer not to as it might just aggravate my acne-prone skin. Definitely not ready to take any chances.) After applying the oil, I generally give myself a gentle massage and then wash off the oil later with the Indulekha Bringha Hair Cleanser. The best part is that the oil washes off easily and doesn't leave me with a greasy look after. It does, however, leave behind a mild scent of the oil, but TBH, I don't mind the herbal fragrance. Anyway, coming to the most important part... the results. In just four weeks, I've started to notice a significant reduction in hair fall as well as an improvement in the condition of my tresses. My hair feels smoother, a lot more manageable and a lot less frizzy... and to think we're smack in the middle of summer! In fact, I've completely stopped heat styling, not just because we're in lockdown, but because I actually don't need to. And that, for me, is a big win! Another plus is that I've noticed that new hair has started to grow in previously thinner areas. Sure, my hair problems aren't all gone, but I'm pretty certain that regular use of the Indulekha Bringha Hair Oil will do me good. All in all, I can definitely say that my hair care routine has found itself a keeper!
