Regular use of hair gel, styling mousse, hair sprays and even shampoo and conditioner leave residue in your hair that is difficult to get rid of. This is called product build-up and it clings to the hair and scalp, hampering hair growth. The longer it stays in your hair, the more problems it causes - excessive dryness, dull hair, are all signs of product buildup. It can also prevent oils and other important hair care products from entering the hair follicles. Therefore, it is necessary to get rid of scalp build-up. In order to revive your hair and give your scalp a feeling of freshness, follow one of the three ways mentioned below.
01Try a clarifying shampoo
One of the easiest and most common ways to get rid of product build-up is by using a clarifying shampoo. It reaches your scalp and dissolves any oils or residue that might be sitting there to give you squeaky clean scalp. However, you cannot replace your regular shampoo with this one as it can be quite drying for the tresses. Instead, use it once a month.
02Give an ACV rinse
The reason your scalp feels dry and hair looks damaged is because a lot of hair products disrupt the pH balance of your scalp. This DIY method of removing product build-up is quite effective and common, it also restores the natural pH balance of the scalp. After washing your hair, take four cups of water and add one cup of apple cider vinegar to it and rinse your hair. It will clear out the product build-up as well as add a healthy shine to your hair.
03Exfoliate your scalp
You exfoliate your skin twice every week to get rid of dry and dead skin then why not do the same for your scalp? Scrubbing your scalp every once in a while will clear the residue clinging to your roots and end most of your hair problems. To make your own scrub, you can mix equal amount of sea salt and olive oil and add a few drops of lemon juice. Massage the scrub lightly using your fingertips and let it stay for 30 minutes before washing off with warm water and shampoo.
